The Museum of Art History in Vienna (in German: Kunsthistorisches Museum is one of the first museums of fine arts and decorative arts in the world that is located in the city of Vienna.
It was opened in 1891, built by Gottfried Semper and Karl von Hasenauer in Italian Renaissance style to house the vast imperial collection of the Habsburgs, who over the centuries have been enthusiastic patrons of the arts. Its collection is one of the richest in its genre, and was formed from the art and curiosity offices of Archduke Ferdinando and Leopoldo Guilherme, and Emperor Rodolfo II.
The collection covers pieces from Greek, Roman and Egyptian antiquity to Baroque art, and is divided into the main headquarters in Vienna and the subsidiary museums of Ambras Castle and the Lipizzaner Museum in Innsbruck, and the palaces of Hofburg and Schönbrunn, also in Vienna. Since 2006, the Museum of Ethnology and the Austrian Theater Museum are part of the complex.

Gallery of Paintings, from one of the oldest private princely collections. It was founded by Archduke Leopoldo Guilherme in the middle of the 17th century with works acquired from the governor of the Netherlands. He has about 1,400 paintings, especially by Venetian masters (Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto, and others), but also Flemish like van Eyck, Rubens and van Dyck.
Egyptian and Near Eastern Collection, one of the largest in the world for works from the ancient dynasties of Egypt. Started in the middle of the 19th century, it grew with acquisitions, donations and new excavation findings. Its section on the Near East features rarities from southern Arabia.
Greek and Roman antiquities, originally from the Habsburg collection, it is also one of the most important in the world. It covers a period from the Bronze Age in Cyprus (3,000 BC) to Slavic finds from the first millennium before the Christian era. It has very rare pieces of cameos and treasures dating from the Great Migration of the early Middle Ages.

Ephesus Museum, with findings from excavations undertaken by Austrian archaeologists in the ruins of Ephesus, and others from Samothrace.
The Secular Treasury, with pieces of the highest level in jewelery, with more than a millennium of history. Particularly important are the insignia of the Holy Roman Empire and the Austrian Empire, including the imperial crown. It is the largest worldwide collection of objects of medieval European royalty, in addition to having a multiplicity of other items in jewelry and a section entirely dedicated to objects related to the cult, the Ecclesiastical Treasure, with liturgical garments, reliquaries, altar objects, etc.
Collection of Sculptures and Decorative Arts, with sculptural works, applied arts, tapestries, and scientific instruments, in addition to natural objects.
Numismatic Office, with more than 700 thousand pieces in coins, medals, paper money, orders and other items.
Collection of Old Musical Instruments, featuring pieces formerly owned or used by important musicians and composers. It has the most important instrumentarium of pieces from the Renaissance.
Weapons and Armor Collection, the best documented collection of its kind in the West, with all its pieces, without exception, linked to some notable historical event.
Museum of Uniforms Department Carriages, with carriages from the old collection of the Austrian court, with about 100 copies, and a section with the uniforms used by their drivers and court officials.
Lipizzaner Museum, preserving the history of the famous Imperial Spanish Riding School, with paintings, watercolors, prints, photographs, uniforms, riding equipment and training of the Lipizzaner horses, in addition to the stables with their horses.
Ambras Castle, located in Innsbruck, is an important historical monument in itself, and seeks to reconstruct the way of life of Archduke Ferdinand II, generous patron of the arts, with sections of portraits, weapons, sculptures and other pieces from the collection of that illustrated prince .
The library, with more than 240 thousand volumes including incunabula, books, maps and prints dating from the 15th century, is still a research center and constantly expands its collection and modernizes its resources with audiovisual material in various media.
Archive, with 25,000 entries related to items in the museum's collection, as well as manuscripts, obituaries, photos, newspapers, posters and other objects.
